The studio

Old soul. New tools.

Crane & Archer is a small, independent software studio based in Connecticut. We make a few things, and try to make them well.

What we make

Software for everyday life that rewards attention. We’d rather keep a small shelf of apps, each cared for over years, than ship a shelf full of things we can’t stand behind. Our first app, I Dream Stuff, is a dream journal that helps people know themselves — a good example of what we’re after: something a little wondrous, made with real craft, that respects the person using it.

How we work

Craft over churn. We build slowly and maintain for the long term. A feature ships when it’s right, not when it’s loud.

Privacy as a default, not a setting. We collect as little as we can, we don’t sell anyone’s data, and we design the sensitive parts so we can’t casually read them — in I Dream Stuff, your written dreams are held under zero-access encryption, as ciphertext only a key on your own device can open.

Honest about AI. Our apps use AI where it genuinely helps, and we say plainly what it can and can’t do. Nothing is dressed up as magic, or as a truth it isn’t.

Wonder, kept honest. We lean into the strange and the beautiful, and we’re always clear about what’s lore and what’s evidence.

The name

Crane & Archer is named for two constellations — Grus, the Crane, and Sagittarius, the Archer. An old sky, and new tools to look at it with.
